Waar gaat het over?
I don't know how long I sat there, but suddenly my entire body reacted when I heard a familiar laugh somewhere behind me. Looking round, I saw her, sitting with three other girls of which one was my sister, talking to each other in that hushed tone girls can do so well while laughing as they shot glances at me.
'Oh fuck me,' I groaned but something inside me stood up and slapped me in the face.
'Man up,' it said, 'You got a chance and you're blowing it. So man up and grow some balls for fucks sake!'
'Fuck this,' I thought and got up, grabbed my bat and walked up to the plate. For a moment the pitcher eyed me, then noticed the girls cheering me on from the bleachers, gave me a grin as he nodded and wound up.
Only one voice I heard as I trotted off for first, second, third and home base, not even caring if the ball was caught until I was tapped out, which I wasn't.
As I looked up at the spot the girls had been sitting I found it empty, the rest of the team having also packed it in for the day. Only Marge was still there, standing to the side of the bleachers, shooting me hatred from her eyes like never before.
